Eco-Friendly Dry Erase Products
Interested in eco-friendly dry erase calendars? One husband-and-wife team has made a specialty of them.
Dry Erase Calendars and Boards
PlanetSafe grew out of the desire that Stacey D'Amico had to create a green product. Her husband and business
partner, Ward Turner, was well suited to work with her on this as he already had a small manufacturing company.
But it wasn't an easy road to get the product out to market. As they recount on their "About Us" page of
their website , they searched out plant based materials
that could compete with the widely used plastics. After many trials and errors, plus some amazing serendipity,
they now have a line of extremely eco-friendly dry erase calendars and white boards.
They are constantly adding new products. Kudos to them!
Do take a look at this list of their
PlanetSafe erasable calendars and white boards at Amazon. Perfectly good prices, too. We've got them noted for the next time we need any kind of
planner ourselves.
Dry Erase Markers
It's particularly beneficial to use non-toxic dry erase markers because breathing the chemical fumes of the
conventional markers isn't great for anyone and can cause headaches or other reactions in sensitive
individuals.
The industry typically uses a chemical called methyl isobutyl ketone, or MIBK for short. It is very much like
what is used in fingernail polish remover. Happily, many of the main companies making dry erase markers do also
make low-odor ones which are less toxic.
Here is a list of
non-toxic dry erase markers at Amazon.
One company offers the most eco-friendly dry erase markers we know of. The AusPen dry erase markers are not at Amazon at this writing, but you can
buy directly from their North American distributor. It appears that their main market is schools and also
business. The kits they offer seem rather pricey for home use.
